Zatorski won his match 4&2 against Ballis, Bergen came up just short and lost 1 down to Smiley, Rouse won his match 2 up against Aguirre, and Wylie won 5&4 against Draeger. Overall that was a 4 to 1 victory over the Cavaliers to give the Memorial Red team 5th place. The White team took on our neighbors down the street, the Kinkaid Falcons, in the 7th place match. Martinez fought hard against Jaivir Pande, but lost his match on the 17th hole 2&1, still being 2 under par. Gray and Brookby took care of business in their perspective matches, defeating Stanton and Morell both 3&2 earning two points for the Mustangs. Kidd had his hands full while Anderson made a handful of birdies early. He fought hard making a late birdie of his own, but came up just short losing 4&2. Ramke battled back late in his match and had a putt to extend the match to extra holes, but his putt came up just short losing 1 down to Sole. Kinkaid won the match 3 points to 2, giving the Mustang White team the 8th place finish. This was an awesome event and one we always look forward to! Next up is the Region 3-6A Championship at Gleannloch Pines April 20-21! Win The Day!
2021 17-6A District Champions
The boys golf team started their post season run with a come from behind win at the 2021 District Championship, led by Preston Rouse’s 5 under par round of 67 on day 2. Both mustang teams did not play like they wanted on day one, both sitting in a tie for 3rd place at 299. 7 shots behind Cy Creek and 5 shots behind Stratford. Day 2 played much more difficult with strong winds showing up. Both teams fought hard and as the day unfolded the team of Preston Rouse 76-67, Tyler Gardner 72-76, Charlie Wylie 77-73, Will Brookby 80-77, and David Martinez 74-82 slowly pulled away from the field winning by 7 shots. An extremely hard fought effort and the second lowest round of the day! 3 guys played as individuals as well, Carson Kidd opened up with a 3 under par round of 69. Huge round by him! Christopher Robishaw shot two consistent rounds of 75-79 and William Hirtz shot rounds of 84-86. The Regional tournament is in a few weeks, April 21-22 at Gleannloch Pines! A big congrats to the girls team as well for winning their District Championship!!! WIN THE DAY!!!
Mustangs Take 3rd in Galveston
The Mustangs traveled down to Moody Gardens in Galveston this past weekend to compete in the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Clear Creek High School. The first round conditions were rare for Galveston, showing almost no wind with soft fairways. The team took advantage and shot a first round of 305, which put them in 3rd place heading into the second round. Marshal Ramke led the way with a 73, William Hirtz 76, Will Rexrode 77, Christopher Robishaw 78, and Erikson Pittman 79. The second round proved to be much more difficult, as the Galveston wind showed up in a big way. Winds were a steady 12 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph. The team got off to a great start, taking advantage of the downwind holes. Holes 10-13 were the most difficult by far and the mustangs stayed patient and played them outstanding. The second round team score of 308 was tremendous in the wind and was the second low round of the day. The team finished in 3rd for the event which for the strength of the field was awesome! Ramke’s second round of 73 earned him 4th place individually. Robishaw shot 73 in the second as well, Hirtz 78, Rexrode 85, and Pittman 85. Next up is the Brock Kobza Memorial Tournament on Tuesday March 9th!
Mustangs Finish 5th at Aggie Cup
The top group of Mustangs competed up in College Station this past week in the 15th Annual Aggie Cup Invitational, hosted by A&M. By far the most competitive and talented field of the year. Traditions Club hosted the first round and Miramont Country Club the second. The wind was a major factor in the first round and the greens were the best they had been in a few years. Jeffrey Zatorski led his team the first day after a fast start. His 74 in those conditions was a very solid round. Tyler Gardner carded a 77, Walker Bergen 82, Devin Dinsmore 83, and Preston Rouse 91. The team score of 316 put the Mustangs in 5th place headed into the second round at Miramont. Day 2 played much different, a little more yet, slower and smoother greens, and much less wind. Jeffrey Zatorski’s round of 3-under par 69 was tied for the lowest round of the day, earning him second place for the event. The best individual result at this event since William Moll won the 13th Aggie Cup back in 2019. Preston Rouse had a tremendous bounce back round to shoot 75, Devin Dinsmore 76, Tyler Gardner 77, and Walker Bergen 78. The team score of 297 kept them in 5th place for the event, finishing 10 shots back of earning a medal. The next top varsity event is the Aggieland Match Play in College Station where the Mustangs look to defend their title from last year! Win The Day!

Spencer Gray’s round of 78 led the team with Will Brookby right behind him with a 79. Carson Kidd shot 80, Marshal Ramke 81, and Hunter Lee 86. The Player course proved to be a much more difficult task for almost all of the teams in round 2. Oak Ridge Fall Classic Champs
The varsity boys competed in the Oak Ridge Fall Classic up at Gleannloch Pines Golf Club right before Thanksgiving Break. The team included juniors Devin Dinsmore, Walker Bergen, Preston Rouse, Tyler Gardner, and freshman Charlie Wylie. The mustangs had their strongest showing of the year winning the event by a large margin! Not only did they take home the team victory, they also swept 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medalist honors. Tyler Gardner finished in 1st with two fantastic rounds of 66-68, Charlie Wylie in 2nd with rounds of 70-66, and Preston Rouse in 3rd with his rounds of 66-75. Devin Dinsmore shot 76-75 and Walker Bergen 78-74. Truly a remarkable team effort and showing from top to bottom. All of these guys fought hard both days and put their talents on display. An awesome way to cap off the varsity fall season! You can see results using this link!
Montgomery Match Play Champs
Six varsity mustangs competed in the Montgomery Match Play up in Bentwater over the weekend. The first round of 36 holes was cut short to 18 holes due to a strong cold front that blew in right around lunchtime. Luckily, the mustangs played phenomenal as a team in the first round, earning them the number 1 seed going into the match play portion on Friday! Christopher Robishaw and Walker Bergen led the team in the first round with rounds of 73, which gave them a share of the stroke play low medalist! Robishaw’s back nine of even par earned him the 1st place honors and Bergen was awarded 3rd place. Erikson Pittman and Spencer Gray performed nicely with rounds of 75 and 76, both very steady rounds with not a lot of difficulties. David Martinez fired a round of 80 and Carson Kidd 83. The team score of 297 was the low round of the day, by 7 shots. The championship match on Saturday was against the Highlanders from The Woodlands and proved to be a great matchup coming down to the last hole. Robishaw and Bergen continued their good play, winning both of their matches. Robishaw won 4&3 and Bergen 3&2. Freshman David Martinez got off to a hot start, as he was 4up in his match early on. He then finished off his opponent with a win on number 16 winning his match 3&2. Carson Kidd fought all day long, but his opponent brought his A-game making 3 birdies on the front nine. It was an uphill battle on the back nine and he lost his match 5&4. Heck of an effort all day long. Erikson Pittman got off to a hot start as well going 3 up in the first 8 holes, however his opponent turned it on heading into the back nine. Erikson fought up until hole 16 when his opponent closed the match out with a birdie, another great match and great effort! Spencer Gray was paired with Erikson and he found himself up very early in his match as well. Spencer did not have his best stuff, but he found a way to keep himself in the match late on the back nine. Dropping two clutch putts on the last two holes earned his team the winning ½ point to win the tournament! Phenomenal showing from top to bottom and a great team win!
Mustangs Finish 2nd at The Woodlands
A group of varsity boys played the same day as the JV boys, but at the Tournament Course at The Woodlands Country Club. Arguably, the best greens we have played on in years and the rest of the course was in phenomenal shape as well. The golf course showed its teeth all day and proved to be a very difficult test for the entire field. 36-holes were scheduled for the event; however, the weather cut it short and made it a 27-hole event. Marshal Ramke led his team with round of 75-37 and not far behind him was Devin Dinsmore shooting 75-39. Freshman Charlie Wylie had a good showing as well with rounds of 77-39. Preston Rouse shot rounds of 81-37, Tyler Gardner 82-43, and Jeffrey Zatorski 86-40. The team scores of 317-155 was good enough for a second place finish behind the home team of The Woodlands!
JV Boys take 2nd at April Sound
Some JV boys traveled up to April Sounds Country Club last week to compete in the Lake Creek Invitational. Sophomore William Rother led his team with a round of 87 and the team score of 361 was good enough for a solid 2nd Place finish! Sophomores Henry Shavlan and Cole Coolidge played their first tournament as Mustangs and shot 90 and 93. Bo Neuhaus shot 91 and Powell Jordan a 98. Up next for this group will be our hosted event at Cypress Lakes on November 2nd.
Mustang Freshmen Kick-Off 2020-2021 Season
All six of our freshman traveled over to Eagle Pointe Golf Club in Mount Belvieu to compete in the Barbers Hill Invite. This was the program's first tournament since February and it was great to get back out there and compete! Constant drizzle and cloud cover made the conditions difficult especially around the greens. Making an eagle and three birdies in his first 6 holes, David Martinez led the team with a solid round of 74 which was good enough to finish in a tie fifth place individually. Not far behind him were Kyle Krouse and Gray Gammill with rounds of 80 and 81. Charlie Wylie with an 83, Anthony Roa 86, and Cesar Garcia 88. The team score of 318 was good enough to finish 5th out of the 12 team field. Lots of talent in this freshman class and a bright program future! Next up for the Mustangs will be the Lake Creek JV and The Woodlands Fall Invitational, both on October 19th. Win The Day!

April 19, 2020 Update
My Mustangs!
I hope you all are safe and well during this abnormal time. I know parents have received important information from Lisa Weir and Jennifer Blaine, but I wanted to reach out and give a little information myself. As you all know, golf should not be a priority right now. Everyone should take care of their loved ones and stay safe during times like these. We all need to control what we can and do so with a good attitude.
As of now all UIL activities and contests will resume no earlier Monday, May 4th. The UIL will be reevaluating the beginning dates for practices as they receive more information about schools resuming. We cannot have scheduled team practices during the time that schools are closed. So if you guys choose to practice, do so using all the safety precautions you can. You all have your practice drills book, a lot of those can be done at home by yourself. I will send out optional workouts throughout the coming weeks that you can complete if you choose to do so. Anything I send to you while we are out of school is optional and not required. Staying positive during a time like this is tough, but necessary. As always, never hesitate to reach out to me for anything.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone again soon and I will be praying for continued good health for our team’s families and loves ones.
Win the Day & Stay Safe,
Coach Brady

Tough Conditions in Galveston
This past weekend the second team traveled down to Galveston to play in the Wildcat Invite hosted by Clear Creek High School. Moody Gardens Golf Course played extremely difficult over the two days, with winds gusting up to 35 mph and the greens playing firm and fast. The first round showed winds out of the Northeast throughout the day, making the first nine holes tough. The mustangs fought hard, but the golf course simply won this round. However all the teams found the conditions to be difficult, so the team score of 337 was still good enough to be in 4th place headed into the second round. The mustangs started the second round only three shots out of the third place and needed a good day to make a move up the leaderboard. A much better start across the board on Saturday was key and the mustangs got it. Devin Dinsmore led his team the second day carding a phenomenal round of 74 in the Galveston winds. The second round of 325 was a solid 12 shot improvement! The two-day total, 662, was good enough for a 6th place finish. The in individual scores were Devin Dinsmore 82-74, Blake Jarvis 83-81, Marshal Ramke 81-86, Will Brookby 91-85, and Dylan Gardner 91-85. The Regional Preview is set for March 20-21 on two weeks and that will cap off the regular season for the Mustangs!
Second Place in Sugar Land
5 Mustangs traveled down to River Pointe Golf Club in Sugar Land for the Clements Varsity Invite. Along with the 125 player field, there were plenty of gators enjoying this great property! The team of Jonah Lou, Alex Hay, Jerry Zhao, Nico Ryan and Carson Kidd played smart and plotted their way around this golf course. With water on almost every hole, it required accurate tee shots and precise approaches. Early in the round the guys had to get used to the firmness of the greens and adapt quickly. Jerry Zhao did so and fought his way to a career low round in his mustang career with a one-over-par, 72! Carson Kidd was not far behind him with his round of 73. The rest of the scores were Nico Ryan 80, Alex Hay 81, and Jonah Lou 85. The team score of 306 was good enough for a second place finish, seven shots behind Clements High School and another great event for the team! Next up is the Wildcat Invite down at Moody Gardens! Win The Day!
Aggieland Match Play Champs!
The top five Mustangs traveled up to College Station this weekend to compete in the Aggieland Match Play hosted by the A&M Consolidated Tigers. The first day included 36 holes of continuous stroke play to determine seeding for day 2 and name the individual award winners. It was cold on Friday morning, but the mustangs got off to hot starts. Jeffrey Zatorski led the way with a 5-under par round of 67, but not far behind him was Preston Rouse’s 68. With Johnny Cooley, Will Overall, and Walker Bergen shooting 72, 73, and 77, it gave the mustangs a first round score of 280 (8 under par). The lowest team score recorded in over 4 years. The wind picked up for the second round, but the mustangs kept their heads up and attitudes positive. They managed their way to a round of 302 (Zatorski 70, Bergen 77, Rouse 77, Cooley 78, Overall 81), good enough to earn he number 1 seed for the match play portion. Jeffrey’s rounds of 67-70 earned him 1st place individually, winning by five shots. That is Jeffrey’s third individual win in four weeks! The championship match included the Memorial Mustangs and the Highland Park Fighting Scots. This head-to-head format gave the coaches the opportunity to send players out in their desired order. Senior Will Overall went out first against Thompson Huthnance and played 16 very solid holes at even par, however Huthnance played extremely well at 3 under par. Will fought back late winning two holes in a row on the back nine, but in the end Huthnance won the match 3&2. The next match, Sophomore Preston Rouse went up against a senior in Randall Fojtasek. Both players put on a clinic all day, making over 14 birdies between the two of them. Rouse was able to close out Fojtasek on the seventeenth hole, winning 2&1. In the same pairing Senior Johnny Cooley performed outstanding, playing 16 holes at 3-under par giving him the 4&2 victory over Hudson Weibel. Sophomore Walker Bergen was in the final paring, going up against senior Jack Watson. Walker played his game as he knows how to, hitting tons of fairways and managing his short game well. He was able to close out Watson 2&1 on his seventeenth hole. Jeffrey Zatorski was up against Christian Clark and Jeffrey performed even better than he did during the stroke play portion, making an incredible 7 birdies in 14 holes. He won his match over Clark 4&3 and with the 4 points to 1 advantage; the Mustangs took home the team win. This is huge team win for the Mustangs!
Battle on the Bayou
The Mustangs headed down to the Bayou Golf Course to compete in the Texas City Invitational this past Tuesday. With tons of rainfall the day prior the golf course was very soggy and made it difficult to navigate the ball around the course. It didn't seem to bother freshman Powell Jordan in posting a score that matched is career low. His round of even par 72 led his team and was good enough for first place individually. The team as a whole flourished coming down the stretch making 3 birdies as a team on the last 5 holes, posting the first place team score of 335. The rest of the team scores were Edward Li 85, Will Rexrode 87, Hunter Lee 91, and Logan Smith 99. Another big team win for the mustangs!!
Big Win on The Island
The top 5 boys and girls got a really unique opportunity to play on the same teams this past week to compete in the Clear Lake Four-ball Invitational at the historic Galveston Country Club.. It was a four-ball format taking the best score on each hole between the two teammates. Our parings were Jackie Nguyen & Walker Bergen, Zoe Slaughter & Spencer Gray, Catherine Lee & Jeffrey Zatorski, Meredith Simpson & Tyler Gardner, and Lydia Howard & Preston Rouse. The boys came out hot the first round, even with heavy fog all day. The team first round score of 278 (10 under par) was the low round of the day and put us in great position headed into the final day. As the boys did day one, the girls got off to an even hotter start in round 2 catapulting the team to an unreal round of 27 under par for the day. The team score of 539 (37 under par) was an incredible accomplishment and gave the Mustangs a large margin of victory. They swept the individual awards as well as the team win. Lee & Zatorski’s 68-65 earned them first place, Nguyen & Bergen’s 71-63 gave them second, and Slaughter & Gray’s 72-63 got them third. Howard & Rouse’s 70-70 and Simpson & Gardner’s 69-74 also earned top 10 finishes as well! Jackie Nguyen played outstanding on day 2 and her 8-under par round of 64 gave her the new course record at Galveston Country Club! Simply a phenomenal event for both the Girls and Boys teams as they approach post-season play!
Solid Showing in Montgomery
The mustangs stayed busy and traveled up to Bentwater Country Club in Montgomery, TX for the Don Massengale Memorial Tournament. The first round was a very chilly morning followed by strong winds coming off Lake Conroe. Devin Dinsmore led his team through the first round with a great round of 77. The first round team score of 326 was a very solid start for this group, especially on this golf course. The second round was warmer, but a lot more wind was present. Our team got off to a rocky start, but stayed patient and grinded out a 338 for the second round. The team total of 664 was good enough to finish right in the middle of the pack at 11th place. Individual scores were Devin Dinsmore 77-82, Drew Vandervoort 83-82, Jerry Zhao 83-83, Nico Ryan 83-92, and Jonah Lou 93-91. Up next for this group will be the Clemens Varsity and Wildcat Invitational.
Another Win in Cypress
The varsity boys traveled to the nearby Blackhorse Golf Club in Cypress and competed in the Nicole Corser Memorial Tournament hosted by Katy ISD schools. Day one was on the North Course and 25 mph winds proved an extremely tough test for everyone. After a rough start, the guys battled back and posted a score of 322, which was good enough for a 10 shot advantage. The second round was on the South Course, much narrower and with trickier greens. Jeffrey Zatorski’s fast start with two birdies in the first five holes enabled him to lead his team with a very impressive four-under par round of 68. Walker Bergen had a tough start on the South, but he managed his way around playing his last 13 holes one under par to shoot 75. The Mustangs strong second round was good enough for a big team win! Individual scores were Jeffrey Zatorski 77-68 (1st Place), Walker Bergen 80-75 (3rd Place), Will Overall 80-81, Marshal Ramke 85-81, and Christopher Robishaw 86-80.
Victorious in Crosby
Five Mustangs traveled up to Stonebridge Golf Club at Newport this past Friday and Saturday to compete in the Crosby Invitational. In extremely wet conditions this team was able to post two very solid team rounds for the event. In round one, senior Hayden Smith led his team firing a round of 76 and only four shots back of the individual lead. Right behind him were freshmen Erikson Pittman and Nico Ryan shooting rounds of 79 & 80. After day one their round of 318, gave them a sizable lead over Brazoswood and Friendswood. The team goal was to simply improve on the team score from round one, if accomplished it would surely secure the team title. Erikson and Nico showed extreme poise as they backed up their first round scores with round of 78. Good enough for them to finish in 2nd & 3rd indivifdually. Sophomores Devin Dinsmore and Jerry Zhao both improved on their first round scores as well. The second round score of 316 was good enough to get the win. A very impressive showing out of this group! Individual Scores: Erikson Pittman 79-78, Nico Ryan 80-78, Devin Dinsmore 83-79, Hayden Smith 76-90, & Jerry Zhao 92-81.
JV Boys Battle in The Woodlands
Four freshman boys traveled up to Panther Trails Golf Course for the Woodlands JV event this week. For sure some of the toughest conditions thus far this year, with wind gusts up to 20 mph and the temperature never getting above 53 degrees. They fought hard and were led by Michael O'Shell with his round of 88. The team score of 382 was good enough to finish right in the middle of the pack. Other scores were William Rother 94, Bo Neuhaus 95, and Paxton Ponce 105. Up next for the JV squad will be the Texas City Invite on February 25th.
Mustangs Finish 5th at Hill Country Shootout
The second varsity team had the opportunity to travel up to Burnet this past weekend to compete in the Hill Country Shootout hosted by Vandegrift High School at Delaware Springs Golf Course. The hill country wind showed its teeth on the second day of the event, which made the golf course, play even more difficult. A much different style of golf was required for the mustangs and they adapted well. Their first round score of 310 put them in 6th place out of 15 teams headed into the final round. Christopher Robishaw led his team the first day with a solid 76. With the wind gusting up to 25 mph, freshman Carson Kidd was able to manage his way around Delaware Springs to post a great round of 77. The team score of 319 gave the mustangs a 5th place finish and a great way to end a busy week! Individual scores were Carson Kidd 78-77, Blake Jarvis 77-82, Christopher Robishaw 76-84, Marshal Ramke 85-76, and Will Brookby 79-85. Next up for this group will be the Don Massengale Memorial Tournament at Bentwater Country Club, February 14-15.
14th Aggie Cup Success
The top five mustangs made the annual trip up to College Station for the 14th Aggie Cup Invitational this past week. The first round was at Traditions Club and it proved to be a difficult test, as it does year after year. After a rough start, the mustangs fought hard and mounted a strong back nine to post a team score of 312. Headed into the final day the mustangs found themselves in a tie for 8th place. The final round was played at Miramont country and it was in absolute perfect condition. The mustangs got off to an incredibly fast start, but hit a few bumps in the middle of the round. Varsity Boys Win in Kingwood
The Varsity boys competed this past weekend up in the Atascocita Fall Championship hosted by Kingwood High School. Even in perfect weather the short, narrow golf course proved top be a very difficult set up for the field. After a first round score of 314, the Mustangs had the lead going into the final round on Saturday. The final round began on a much better note than the first, with 2 boys finding themselves under par thru their first 5 holes. As the wind picked up the golf course showed its teeth again, but the mustangs held strong. They posted a team score of 309 and won the tournament by a comfortable margin. Spencer Gray found himself in a playoff for the 2nd place after rounds of 78-76, but fell just short after 4 holes of play. Walker Bergen finished in 4th, shooting rounds of 79-77. Will Overall finished just ahead of his teammate Preston Rouse in 7th place. Will shot rounds of 80-79 and Preston 77-83.
